    Re: gloves

Mine are goatskin and I have never had a stinger penetrate them. Even though they have been stung several times.

I just got some new welding gloves and was thinking the same thing, could these be...

Re: 50 degrees - bees are active

I will chime in with my own experience, and I think that 100 or so dead bees would be about normal on a day like today. I have a couple hundred in the rocks below the hive on all three of

Poll: Re: Do you Build or Buy your Hive Bodies?

Even though I am a woodworker, I choose to order my hive bodies and mediums from an on-line retailer.

I have checked at Lowes and Home Depot and have found that I can actually buy them precut and...

  6. Re: One more reason to keep bees...... hair loss treatment?

I myself am follically challenged (Protected by the ADA) and may try to topically apply some propolis next year. Just for science's sake of course :)
  7. Re: Girls working the Sasanqua camillia today

Thanks for the picture. Here in rainy southern Ohio, the only bee I have seen in days are dead ones on the front of the hive. Man, I can't wait for spring. Me and the girls hate winter.

    Re: The price of bees

This is my first years as a beek and have noticed a jump in price from just last year to next year's bees. I agree it is supply and demand. It is crazy how many packages they sell in my
    corner of...
  9. Re: is there natural die off durring the winter?

It seems every morning I have between 1 and 10 dead bees on the landing board of each hive. I am sure it is just the normal die off and when it warms up enough the other bees bring them
    outside the...

I have experienced about the same weather as you. It was 65 here yesterday and all 3 of my hives were extremely busy with bees doing cleansing and orientation flights.

Re: ARRGHH! hate being a part-time beeker!

This is why I highly suggest retiring. It makes it so much easier to be a beekeeper. I can check on my hives as many times as I want to through out the day.

Re: oops. scared off my queen.

I can empathize with you on this one. This is my first year and the mistakes I have made. And they seem to always involve a queen.

Re: Sting virgin & first aid
