Wash them with soap and water to get the honey off. After they are dry (and stiff) soak them in FGMO (aka mineral oil laxative aka mineral oil with no scent) and work that in well to soften them...

    Drawbacks to using small cell

In Brushy Mountain's catalog it warns that only experienced beekeepers should use small cell foundation. Why is that? What are the drawbacks to using small cell?

Re: Bees returned to the old location.

I would set a super in the old location just before dark, let the bees go in, block the entrance after dark, tomorrow morning I'd move the super to the new location by setting the super on top of the...

    Re: Larvae age

Thanks Fusion power. From doing the math it would be 7 days from the time the egg is laid before they absolutely couldn't make a queen cell. If I got this right you really wouldn't want a queen made...

    Re: Larvae age

The egg hatches at 3 to 3 1/2 days. My question is how long from the time the egg is laid to when the larvae is too old for the bees to make an emergency queen cell.

I've read this on beesource before but can't find it again so I ask this question; at what point will the bees not make an emergency queen cell? From the day the egg is laid how many days before they...

Re: Plant Datura, Nicotiana Seeds or not?

The Nicotiana I grow isn't the regular tobacco. It's called flowering tobacco. Actually it's called "Only the Lonely".

Re: Plant Datura, Nicotiana Seeds or not?

I grow both every year. They don't get on the Nicotiana at all even though it's loaded with nectar to the point the whole flower is sticky. I've seen them all over the Datura even before the flower...

    Re: Treating Japanese Beetles

I use the bags you hang on poles to catch them. I hang the bag away from the garden on a shepherd's hook. We also use lime on the vegetables.
  15. Re: Nucs only on deep frames, what if I only have medium hive bodies?

Why do you say that? We bought some queens from him that were very good.

I would say there's 6/8 frames brood, didn't see Q but did see eggs and maybe a QC.

Will freezing honey destroy the natural properties that some people want for allergies? Most of our customers buy our honey for that reason and we don't want to sell them anything but the best.
