  2. Is there a preventative treatment I should be doing on a schedule?

So I have never treated for anything, but I have a feeling I am more lucky then anything.

Is there a schedule I should be following for treatments, and what are they?

    What about the honey or...

If you need to feed, Hy Vee has it on sale for the next week.
  4. Re: To Feed or Not to feed ...that is the Question!

You also forget one thing. In nature, they don't have us harvesting their honey all year.
  5. Re: Would Bee Source be open to a forum for states?

    or

Hey I am ordering some queens from so n so. Anyone...

    Re: Mark's new Honey Label

    One thing to consider

We all know that Raw honey means good,

but traditionally, raw food is something that is not good, and consumers may see raw & be turned off.

Re: How big is your honey house?

Hopefully enough to support 500 hives is our goal. Right now our business is in this 6500 sq ft building, but we are only using the front 4000 sq ft right now.

    For future planning,

Will 2000 sq ft do it?

    Thanks

    Re: Dearth question

    Cool

I am seeing tons of small white clover, and the bigger purple clover everywhere, not to mention all the wildflowers.

I had to add extra supers yesterday as they were still filling.

    Dearth question

Does all areas go through a dearth?

I am still seeing flowers everywhere here in Iowa, with no sign of falling off anytime soon.

What to do with queenless hive this fall?

I have a hive I split this spring, and the queen didnt make it.

The last couple of months I have probably added 8 more frames of brood in hopes they would hatch their own, well I must not of...
  20. Moved bees 100 ft, will foragers find the hive?

I moved four hives to a new home about 100 ft away. The area I moved them from had a few thousand bees flying around pissed off.

Will the find their way over, or did I just kill them all?

    3d printing comb

Has anyone thought about 3d printing honey comb onto their frames? PLA is made from sugar & has a sweet smell, so I thought it may work well.

Re: Charge for placing a hive at someone's garden?

Really it depends on your goals, and time.

If you want to just expand a few more hives, and it is fairly close to home, put a couple more out. I would come up with some type of simple written...

Keep adding supers, and mix in undrawn frames, keep them busy drawing out frames, filling them, and give them lots of room
