Re: Post-bee swarm - egg laying chaos

"Some trays do indeed have queen cells that are filled with milky white material." If you have queen cells with milky material that means there is larva in them, and with that many drones, It...
  3. Re: Tiny after swarm or scout bees bringing in pollen?

I would move the trap a couple of miles, shake them out, then put it back, a second afterswarm may land in the same spot and this time stick around, otherwise they current bees might defend it...

Re: Did I just lose my queen?

pollen coming back is not definitive but a good sign. The bee you saw could have very well been a queen, but if that was the case she was roaming in your package, which would explain the slow...

Re: Did I just lose my queen?

HUH? Replaced a queen with what? The queen has only been out of the cage for 9 days by my count, that's only enough time to get a queen cell capped. but he has not see any eggs or larva.

  10. Re: Two thoughts from a non-TBH owner on how to add complications to your life...

it's a lot easier to slide the first bar back ala Michael Bush style and provide a top entrance than to stair step a hive design, but hey I'm simple like that. If you have the time, go for it...

Re: Where did my bees go?😫

my theory is that you didn't have the queen, they moved next door to the nuc and they were so instantly packed that they absconded. Jus a WAG though!
  12. Re: Water dripping from hive this morning

you can always throw a few pennies under your inner cover if it doesn't have an entrance/vent hole. If it does, that should be adequate ventilation for a nuc.

My dad used to tell me, don't fix what aint broken, I think that sage advice may apply here.
  14. Re: Moved frame of brood up. Was that right?

moving brood up directly over the brood below is what I do to get them working a second box, I wouldn't worry too much about the stores, they will burn through them quickly once they get a couple...

    Re: Aficanized bees are fake

and your point is? straight Russian bees are normally quite gentle, but if you cross them with Italians, they can become quite aggressive too. It's the Africanized bee that is hyper aggressive,...
