Very nice. Love their color patterns.
You know pat, I'd of done the same thing. However, (not knowing if you did) I would have followed the advice of tsk and not disturbing them too much. Glad you got em' out!
Not too far from ya' here in Lumberton, NC. Welcome to the site. Joining up has proven to be the most beneficial thing that I have done in my quest to be a better bee keeper. While I only have...
Truth be told, just about everything Mr. Bush says has made sense in my beekeeping experiences. He has been a lifesaver on more than one occasion! :)
LMAO! Me too!
I cannot say that I know how you feel. I don't. What i can tell you is that, as a child (and up to about thirteen years old) I was horrified of ANY winged stinging insect. I remember standing 20...
I, myself have eight TBH's now. Having received a lot of advice from Dave (Dave's Bee's) and reading Mr. Bush's advice on installing packages. I have never placed a queen cage any any of my hives....
robherc is right. A lot of different opinions on entrance placement. I have six TBH's now and all of them have end entrances that are 3/4 " in diameter. i use wine corks to stop off all of the holes...
jmgi is spot on with his recommendations. Also, I'd do as Rader suggested and read Mr. Bush's comments. He's one of the best!
It has been quite some time since I posted on here guys. Been having several health issues and just had a pretty serious operation on my foot. We have had an extremely mild (warm) winter this year....
"Also, finishing volume I of your book...."
That's not a "book," that's the bible! LOL!
Can you say Robeson County ? Welcome to the site. Everything I know, I have learned from these folks. Wonderful people here! :applause:
I can honestly tell you that I have several of my hives do this in the past. However, it is usually only in the afternoon and ONLY when it has been real hot during the day.
Very nice pics! Thank you for posting
Personally, I do not know. However, I wouldn't if it were me. If you'll do a little searching, you can find exactly how to create the CD case trap and I can assure you that the bee's cannot get to...
pascopol,
I can tell you from personal experience, IT WORKS! However, keep in mind that I do not sell my honey nor have I consumed it myself. I use the jewel cd case method so to eliminate the bee's...
Very nice job with the pics!
What plant? Don't see one!
Real Simple. Pick up the comb and hold it next to the lower portion of another comb. Using your finger, gently nudge her towards the other "attached" comb. Another option would be to just pick her up...
Agree with SteveBee. I have personally found that once those bee's have been packed in with the queen for a couple of days, directly releasing her with them proves to be uneventful for me (and her).
From experience I would say that I would definitely leave things alone!
For what it is worth, I keep mine in their original bottles and stored inside a refrigerator. I have one bottle that is three years old and it smells the same as my one year old bottles. When it...
I still can't believe what questions are sometimes asked on these forums! :lpf:
Yeah. We have tons of the dandelions blooming here too! Along with a multitude of other plants and flowers! Of course, it suits me just fine. I'll save on sugar!
