My wife is on the board of directors for the Indiana USO and they make care packages which the Indiana State Beekeepers Association donated honey sticks and that went over just fine...900+ packages I...
I have used Apilife for 2 years now and I can smell the treatment in my brood comb for a good season. I know your not going to use the honey for human comsumption but I would not use any comb I had...
The bees are hungry they will use as much as they need. You will know when they have had enough.
Api life will make your comb smell really strong and I wouldn't risk using it for honey that humans will consume.
I agree with your beekeeper friend...horse hockey. If this is a city sponsored farmers market you can appeal to the mayor or someone who has charge of the event. Just ake a look at the veggies being...
Indiana Honey what city do you live in and what market will not let you sell?
Jim,
Just as an FYI...I got a bottle with no tube and the top spray part was missing if that makes any sense. I just used the old one I had from an empty bottle.
Love your product!
I have a bunch of old dark comb and honey I scavenged from older hives. I know I can feed the honey back but will they re-use the comb and is it a good idea to let them???
Why do you have to keep them in the NUC? I just hived 7 NUCS and I did leave them in overnight but that was because I wasn't going to try and hive bees at midnight!!
I have never left them in a...
Does it mean anything bad when you see cockroaches in a hive. I have also seen yellow jackets and wasps but the bees just let them all come and go as they pleased. The roaches bother me the...
Correct Michael...Walter T Kelly. I have thin comb I bought for my cut comb...are you saying WT Kelly has a different comb for this top bar?
Hey since we are on the subject of frames...I bought some split top bar frames for my cut comb. I thought this would be eaisier and better than the wedge top bars. I have never used these frames...
So Jim your conclusion is that some one can get hurt by a cyclotron?
I have used HBH and Fumadil-B for several years now. I too am not sure if one cancels out the other but my bees seem to do OK. I'm glad to see that th HBH folks say it's alright to do both. Hope I'm...
Just kidding about the aerodynamics stuff MC. I like to take the extra precaution and close everything up. It has worked for me so far and I like to stay with what works...course if I had a lot of...
So where's this nifty little system at Jim??
Mountaincamp...when your hives are setting 16" off the ground you need to close the SBB's. Mother nature knows nothing about aerodynamics...its just plain cold!
I'm with the Midwest crowd on this one. I live in Indiana and we get the bitter cold with little snow and lots of wind. I reduce my bottom entrance, close my SBB's, and wrap my hives for winter and...
I reduce the bottom entrance and put my guards on when the night temps start to get in the 40's. This was a rule of thumb I picked up from some book...can't remembe which one....but it has worked for...
Farmers market for me. I made over $1,000.00 dollars this year and I have people coming to my house for honey. Wish I had done this a couple years ago!
Thanks Barry that was my initial plan but I am worried about getting the queen because these are 2 deeps. Not sure me or mother nature can coax them all up into the new equipment???
As a last...
I had someone approach me to take over some hives that were at a local orchard. When I checkied out the hives it was immediately apparent no one had worked with these bees in a long time. I was...
