  1. Re: Neonicotinoid Insecticides and Their Impacts on Bees: A Systematic Review of Rese

I consider the present day neonic coated seeds about the same as if beekeepers couldn't buy foundation that wasn't already coated with CheckMite.
  2. Re: Neonicotinoid Insecticides and Their Impacts on Bees: A Systematic Review of Rese

I think we have our logic messed up in the US. What needs to be proven is that the insecticide is required. Can anyone really argue that it wouldn't be better if we used less of all the pesticides...
  3. Re: Neonicotinoid Insecticides and Their Impacts on Bees: A Systematic Review of Rese

    My issues with neonics are:
    1. The farmers don't even have a choice because you can't buy seed of the better varieties without them.
    2. They only remain in the plant for about 2 weeks. Are farmers...

Re: Package options in the USA

I'm guessing that you have not gotten any replies since there are not enough details in your post to answer your question. I don't buy packages anymore, but do you want 10, 100, 1000, etc. Carni,...

    Re: Mystified

I would use OAV 3 times every 4 days, but I'm of the belief that dribbling is too tough on the bees to do it at that frequency. This is what was said at EAS and I believe that Randy Oliver is of...

I don't use it often but in this case I would treat with Fumagilin-B.

    Re: Storing drawn comb

I find that was moths "prefer" comb that had brood in it but will still destroy any drawn comb. I spray any drawn comb that doesn't remain on a hive with Xentari.

    Re: Oxalic Acid/Winter Bees

Take a look at Randy Oliver's site. It has everything you need to know about dribbling oxalic acid. http://scientificbeekeeping.com/oxalic-dribble-tips/
  14. Re: New theory for Treating for mites, moths, and others...

What are you trying to treat? The only bee pests that I can think of that people treat for outside the hives are bears and small hive beetles. The electric fence is much more successful in keeping...
  15. Re: Can you please sign this petition regarding Neonicotinoids

In short, Yes. Take a look at this article http://us1.campaign-archive1.com/?u=5fd2b1aa990e63193af2a573d&id=845254510e&e=714d413320. I was at this conference and was neutral on neonics when it...
  16. Re: Brushy Mountain Oxalic Acid Webinar - Randy Oliver

I wasn't surprised he didn't talk much about OAV since it's very time consuming to do it to several hundred hives compared to dribbling. I doubt most guys with hundreds of hives want to go back to...

    Re: Frame spacing tool question

The risk is you'll get "wonky" comb. I was at EAS and some beginners were saying they did what you're talking about and the bees drew out one side of one frame ultra deep and didn't touch the other...

I'd go through them completely soon. It's better if you get help from another beekeeper to back up your findings. If they are queenless, order mated queens ASAP. You don't want to deal with laying...

Re: Need some help and Advice!

Those mosquito dunks won't hurt your bees. I do suspect that you are queenless. Are you saying you have no brood in any of your hives?
