I know that there are processers out there that fill honey sticks with your own honey. I know that they usually require a minimum order. I just don't know where to find them? I can't seem to find...
Some time ago a person on this forum posted that he had an agreement written up that he used when he kept bees on other people's land. I had that for a while but lost it when I left my job. Does...
Thanks Curtis... it all makes sense now!
So I can't figure out how to use the sundance pollen trap (bottom mount) or how it works. From what I've read the plywood side goes up and then of course the drawer faces up. If I put the front...
Thanks for the info... was having trouble finding them at any of the places I usually think to look. Should have known it'd be from Kelley.
Folks,
We've just inherited some very old bee equipment from a friend of ours. Not only are there 8 and 12 frame supers but there are a number of extremely shallow supers. Instead of the typical 5...
Howdy folks,
So one of our two hives died this winter... I'm guessing of tracheal mites as I treated one hive but not the other (don't remember why). The dead hive doesn't show any signs of disease...
I have some friends that live in Point Roberts Washington who want to keep bees. I'm uncertain of how to get bees to them. For those of you unfamiliar with Pt Roberts, it's in washington but to get...
Just wondering how much honey folk usually get off their two brood body hives in Washington State. I know, I know, it changes all the time and usual isn't really a good word but just what you...
Here's mine... took off the top feeder and proceded to do my hive inspection. Couldn't find the queen, which is weird since she's marked but I figured I'd just missed her. Went to put the top...
jalal,
So how would you write up taste into a statement of quality standards? How would you measure it? How would you guarentee that your products met that standard and how would you inform your...
The store I work for is a major international chain. Unfortunately limiting honey to local will not work although individual stores do carry honey local to their area. Another thing that came to...
OK, kind of a strange question... I work for a grocery store and we're trying to come up with some quality standards for the honey we sell. We carry imported honey but one of the first things I'd...
Just ordered from them. Very quick turn around and they were willing to send my very small shipment USPS which saved me a few bucks. Would definately buy from them again.
Got lot's of gray pollen too... really noticed it since I'm brand new to this and thought it might be chalkbrood or some other such problem until I looked at it closer. My bees are taking less sugar...
Definately make splits to sell and join the local beekeeping group... If we wouldn't have been able to find a few last minute packages we would have been begging for a nuc so we could start...
Joel, I absolutely agree with you. Before getting into beekeeping I had no idea what was going on regarding honey or why I should buy local. My husband spent a lot of time looking for the cheapest...
Joel,
It's awesome to hear that the farmers came. I'm sure it was very appreciated by everyone including many of us that weren't even there. My big question is how long can the bees last in a hive...

Joel,
Is the observation hive on your farm or are you bringing something to a farmers market?
As for the genetically modified question:

There's tons of other good info about this but I noticed in this article the GM corn affected the monarch...
Our laws are the same as TX... they also consider swarms to be a nuisance which I'm guessing means that when your swarm leaves your yard you can't blame your neighbor if they decide to spray it.
