    Re: Wasps,wasps and more wasps..

I also have wasp hives. Welcome to the club. I think they feast from the resources far from the bee nest. When temperatures raise bees begin to defend the hive but not very actively. I don't worry...

Re: Check out my new grass mower

Sheep are best for the job. I have three but I keep them in some other guy's herd.

I don't know about the ad, as I don't watch TV, but junk food runs more or less everywhere in the world. Romania...

Re: Check out my new grass mower

It's a dairy cow and she mows under my surveillance as my hives are too loose(too many mobile parts). Once she rubbed her horns over one hive's cover moving it sideways, also if there is an isolated...

Re: Oxalic Acid Vaporising Bulk Hives

    Hi,

Did the treatment using the vaporizer you bought worked? I'm interesting in making such a device for myself. Do you have any pictures with more details?
    I'm currently browsing the plumbing...
  12. Re: Weak colony in fall... posible causes

Thank you and good luck to you too!
  13. Re: Weak colony in fall... posible causes

I finally did some varroa tests this weekend and varroa is definitely the cause(~10%). What's interesting is that the bees are looking good showing no signs of disease. Haha

    It seems that my...
  14. Re: Weak colony in fall... posible causes

I don't think they had nosema but I've learned my lesson in May with chilled brood(they did fine in the end). They thrived during the whole summer having nice brood patterns but not spectacular...
  15. Re: Weak colony in fall... posible causes

No spotty brood, no signs of disease. I have seen mites but didn't have time to make tests, so I just treated some of them. I've placed the weakest in 2 by 4's deeps, fed them and considered my job...
  16. Re: Oxalic Acid Vaporizer Results - Users post here!

    Worked for me too.
Last year I treated only using OAV - 4 times in Autumn. Next treatments were made this August but this time formic acid.
I overdosed last year by mistake and had no problems...

Re: Is it necessary to get stung?

I don't know if it is or not but it's definitely fun and most sure very healthy. You should see me running when too many bees go for it :). But that doesn't usually happens unless I don't use smoke....
  18. Re: Weak colony in fall... posible causes

My experience in evaluating colonies is almost zero.

I'm in the second year only and have almost 30 nucs that will go into winter. The stronger has about 7 frames of bees, the weakest 3. The...
  19. Re: Robbing - Cause and how to Prevent and Mitigate

I've had big problems with robbing this Autumn too but finally the weather turned a bit colder and it stopped. I can feed with no worries. I use reduced entrances using wire mesh. I also united all...

    Hi,

I just checked a few nucs started this year yesterday and found two of them with not such a great population and plenty of stores. They have completely gave up brood but this is a general...

    Re: What type of nuc's

My God! This sounds so complicated. Why all the gear?
I tried 3 by 3 and 2 by 4 but found it very messy so all my nucs are made in 10 deep frames singles - no need for extra gear and no fuss in...
