Re: My medium frame Ulster Observation Hive

    It's lovely.

Re: Anybody getting any swarm calls right now?

Yeah, I am getting several calls a week, and I don't even do swarm/bee removals, except in rare cases.

Re: Seal wood of hive top feeder?

I build my hive top feeders and all I do is to melt wax and coat the insides and the seams with that. Works a charm.
I don't think I would like urethane on the inside.

    Re: Requeening?

I always re-queen in the Fall. I just started another round of queens and expect to have plenty of time to get them mated and into hives before winter. Of course, my hives are healthy and strong, and...

  12. Re: How long can queen go after hatching without attendants?

This might be too late to help if you are already at work, but you can put a drop of honey in the jar for her. And maybe a drop of water.

    Hi Adrian-

I'm going to overwinter something in nucs but I am not sure yet what that will be. I am still selling queens and nucs and have no idea what I will be left with at the end of the season....

Re: Six queens in one hive!

I used 5 frame nucs for both towers and the cell builder in the middle. I started with two really strong hives that were in 2 deeps, then transferred those frames into 4 nucs each. It worked out...

The queens slim down just before swarming. She will regain that weight in a hurry now that she is in a new hive.
