    Re: Pep Talk

Thank you all so much. I've learned much more from my mistakes than my successes. In 2013, I carried about 7 hives through almost like "Where's Waldo". LOL I even trapped a swarm in an empty hive!...

I lost all of my hives last winter and was not able to get a hold of any new ones this past year.
This year I plan to buy at least two nucs or hives and get excited again.
    I was...

That is right about 2:1 being better than 1:1 for this time of year. Thanks!

    Re: how much to feed

    Hi bw200314,
If you feed them anything at all you will do better than I did last year. Don't wait until it's so cold that they ball up. I would feed them 1:1
sugar water right now until they...

Re: Is this a poplar seedling ?

Well, that's all I do is tinker. I've accidentally learned a few things though. Hang in there. Poplar is a big flow here in the mountains.
Sourwood is another one. Our bees are forest dwellers, so...

Re: Do I need a new queen?

    Okay, thanks.
I think I will order a queen today. I've been wanting to try the "queen juice" for a trap. What are the ingredients?
    Thanks!

Do I need a new queen?

    Hello everyone,
I have a hive that isn't growing. It made it through the winter with about two frames of bees, and that is where it still is.
I sure would hate to squish a good queen. She has...

Re: Anyone know what tree this is?

    Hi!
The Golden Rain Tree may be alright. Some invasives are more prolific than others like Kudzu and Fireants. Others are great like
    Honey Bees and Black Locust!

    Hi,
Here in Tennessee, we have Alanthis. I'm not sure if the spelling is right. The blossum and the fact that everyone thinks sumac leads

    Re: need advise asap please

    Hi Lowhog,
You may be on to something! I didn't know they went down in a tree. I guess I just meant that they don't naturally go out to a ten frame before they go up, but thanks for the tip. You...
