    Re: To many bees

If new queen for some reason doesn't happen you just marry the original queen back to original hive and let the nuk requeen itself. It's always good to have nukes.

    Re: To many bees

I'd take the queen and five frames of open brood (with bees on them) and stores. put them in a nuke (which has entrance blocked so workers don't leave). Then shake some more bees in including...
  3. Re: Placing mating nucs in area with high number feral colonies

Why don't you set some swarm traps out and get some of those queens?:)

In case the file doesn't work , it is of an older gentleman sitting by his hives smoking a pipe while holding a frame in his hands and checking it.

    Re: "Blind" trapping

I am catching swarms in areas that in the middle of nowhere and the landowners don't know of any beekeepers anywhere near. You might just get surprised. I'm on number 15 now.
    Good luck.

    I love trapping swarms!

I have caught 14 swarms in 10 traps so far and 1 out of a tree. This is some kind of fun! Now I have to go get more woodenware.
I was warned that bees were addictive :)

Re: Bees in swarm box. What now?

Should I feed them when I move them into a hive? They are bringing in pollen so I'm thinking they have some brood. They will have to draw out new frames.

Bees in swarm box. What now?

The bees are going in or at least a large number are checking it out. When do I shut the door and bring them home? Do I wait a day or two or do it tonight?
