    Re: Bears and Honeybees

I've seen bears beat the truck that hauled them back from what seemed like 50 miles. (may have been 25 as the crow flies) I don't think you can haul them far enough.

    Now if you mean "Rambo...

Re: What are some of your cost-saving methods?

With all due respect Mr. Palmer, where does the 'what they don't need' go? Into early spring feed, which is fuel to forage the nectar made into honey, that is accumulated at an earlier time?

    Re: "Support Our Troops"

Re: I've never had a "swarm" like this before

I had one similar in Arkansas about July 2012. The comb was still tender and white but had capped brood. They had been there about 2 weeks according to the neighbors.

    I moved them to a box, ...

    In keeping with these thoughts,

How soon MIGHT a swarm / colony move into a recently vacated hive?

Re: Oxalic Acid vaporizer; black iron pipe?

Having not tried this, but I can guess at some problems.

One, the size of the pipe and where you plan to insert it
Two, the OA melts and then vaporizes, and then seems to re-melt when it...

Re: So which frames to start with?

I've seen poplar rot in many instances. Too bad, fun to work with. I build (built) my own frames , so if you're up for some satisfaction go for it. If you're trying to get rich, well........

Re: What don't we know about the waggle dance?

I heard from a reliable source that the dance indicated how much 'fuel' to take to reach the target, and took into account wind, hills, etc.
