    Yes, I have been using Laurie's idea with frames that are half foundation and the rest foundationless.... The bees pretty much build what they want/need....

    Mine drew it out just like regular frames in a flow.... I did paint on an extra layer of wax to help get them started.... No excluder....

    I think you pretty much have it covered..... Only other thing I would mention is a mouse guard..... Make sure a mouse hasn't taken up residence before putting it on....;- )

    Agree with Mike.... Since it is well known that OAV doesn't penetrate the caps, capped honey should not be affected....

    I tried it once late in the summer on my 9 colonies..... Was a real mess to put in the hive (have to be gloved up and the syrup that impregnates the strips stains and is slippery) and the mite drop...

    For my hives I treated (OAV) 5 times in August at 5 day intervals..... All except the last treatment had a significant mite drop.... Assume it was due to mites protected under cap emerging.... ...
