  3. Re: Started making hives w/fixed boards due to hive beetle issue

It's a huge circle almost the size of the metal covering. They'll go in.
  4. Started making hives w/fixed boards due to hive beetle issue

    .

No matter how perfectly you measure and cut follower boards, the walls of hive always expand/contract. Therefore, here in Florida and all over the south, movable follower boards create a haven...

A few pics from Flow Hive I'm hosting

    .

You are seeing nectar/honey in both photos. In the second photo, you can actually see the cross section of the comb and bees inside the cells storing nectar.

  6. Those queens can be sneaky when released into hive after a removal

    .

The queen-release at the very end is worth the wait.:)

I used a top bar hive for this trap-out:

Re: Used another top bar hive on this one

Yes, I love both types of hives equally.

Variety is the spice of life.

But I must admit, I have customers who are interested in both Lang and top bar nucs. I can't let them down....or at least...

Aren't all of you now switching over completely to top bar hives?

Used another top bar hive on this one

    .

This was a labor-intensive removal and the bees wouldn't cooperate enough to bring home the same night. However, they have turned out to be a spectacular batch of bees. Well worth the trouble....

Re: 3 Queens Hatching Within Minutes

You gotta wonder if the commotion helps precipitate it or we were truly lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.

    3 Queens Hatching Within Minutes

    .

I'm not sure how common it is to witness several queens hatching within minutes, but I filmed a good portion of it happening yesterday:

  13. Re: Sometimes mobile home removals are very easy

Sorry I didn't perform. The customer wouldn't have appreciated it. I actually caught some flack from the husband for very weird reasons. I thought he was joking at first.

    But anyhow, I inspected...

    Thanks, MangoBee!

    I appreciate that tip, also.

Any edge I can gain is fine by me.

One thing I've been religious about lately is changing out the hive body a day or two after the cut-out in...

    Re: New Regulations Coming

    .

I think each drone needs to be inspected before it's allowed to take flight.

This will ensure a quality and affordable product for all involved.

I've already patented a drone suction...

    Re: New Regulations Coming

    .

We don't have any idea about the health of the bees?

    What does that even mean?

The last thing I need - as a seller - is my phone ringing off the wall with customers whose nucs have failed....

Maybe the seller didn't feel like driving 2 1/2 hours each way to deliver and install the bees for that price when he has more business than he can keep up with within 50 miles.

By the way, my brief response above wasn't an attempt to discount the advice given.

I really appreciate the constructive criticism and tips and will most definitely consider that information...

I was following orders from the owner. He said go ahead and fold it back. He didn't care.

Daniel, I'm not a know-it-all. Admittedly, I have a lot to learn (especially with my singing and rapping skilz), but please educate me on how this could have been better approached.

Re: This one almost got REAL hairy

    Damage?

    What damage was caused?

The siding was folded back and will neatly fold back exactly as was and nailed back.

The plywood square I cut out is easily fixable.

    The REAL damage would...

    .

    This one almost got hairy.
