Well, we are all entitled to our opinions but that was rude. The OP was asking for payment practices on pollination. I will expand on my post because at least one person didnt quite get it.

Get payment upfront. If they can't afford to pay you at the beginning of pollination, then they wont be able to pay at the end of pollination.
There seems to be at least one poster in this thread that implies that the destruction described by Russell employee(s) to at least one of their buildings and a large 5 frame nuc yard is made up. ...
We are at $140 for a five gallon bucket (our bucket that they return). We were at $125 until late Spring (but we told everyone back in January of this year we were going to $140). That is $2.33 per...
Robert,
Sorry to hear about your dad's passing. You and your family are in our prayers.

I have a couple 55 gallon drums of honey that I will have left over this year. By left over, I mean that I will have more than I need to sell to our customers that we bottle for (both wholesale and...
I cut mine up in 12 pieces per medium frame and sell it in a pint jar wholesale at $6 (chunk comb with liquid honey). I have estimated that the comb takes up about 40% of the space in the jar (so it...
BTW, that would be $1,000 to $1,200 per super... not a bad return instead of selling liquid honey. Of course, at that price I would be happy to sell one super...
On a different note, I currently...
I have sold the entire frame of cut comb for $100 each to hostesses of parties. It's a novelty item for them. They place it on a platter surrounding by grapes, cheeses, crackers, etc. They allow...
I started beekeeping with 4 hives in 2005 which were gentle Italians. A "buddy" of mine did an cut-out of honeybees that ended up being the apis mellifera mellifera (little black honey bee). This...
This is a terrible time of the year to bust into a colony even if you are just making an inspection. That being said trying to remove a colony from a wall during a dearth would be a pretty good...
Some state laws define honeybees as livestock. If livestock is not permitted in an area and honeybees are considered livestock, then they wouldn't be permitted in that area.
Yep, you can reuse them. Steam clean or pressure wash them out... some queen breeders use them again and others don't. They are plastic, they can be sanitized.
What is White, ELA and LA going for now that the crop is starting to come in (at least in the South)? I don't have a feel for 2010 prices yet... does anyone else?
Has anyone heard if that warehouse fire in Houston has had any affect yet on this year's honey prices? Last I heard ELA might be $1.60 this year... could this be the year for $2 a pound for white?
...
What's the latest price for light amber and white? Keep in mind, I'm not looking to sell my excess honey as my retail business is growing (at much higher prices than $1.40 per pound), but I do have...
We have talked and talked and talked (or written and written and written) about why honey prices should be higher and that they ought to go higher in 2010. The market is set by the packers....
It could be camillia's blooming. This time of year they are about to start blooming in south MS.
That's pretty typical for a homeowner when they find a beekeeper willing to remove the bees... they've been there for years but all of a sudden now they are a danger to pets and grandchildren (after...
I looked at the video link in Irwin's post... what destruction! I am glad the beekeeper is okay; his hives on the truck were devastated.
Justin,
That is terrible about your wife's best friend. Sounds like a tough year so far...
BTW my wife got a quote from one of the largest producers in the USA last week for $1.60 per pound of clover. Would that be ELA or white? I don't really see any clover honey down here... at least...
I'm liking it as I have 13 drums of extra light amber and 8 drums of white left.
Anyone out there thinking that the year 2010 will usher in $2 per pound of ELA? I will go out on a limb...
Aaaah, cognac and propolis mixture. This sounds like my kind of medicine. ;)
I have a copy of an old bee magazine from the late 1800s (US) and it has a 17 year diary of a beekeeper whose records showed all of his expenses, sales and pounds produced each year. I will have to...
