    Have you noticed any ill effects on the exposed wood by the sugar syrup, like mold, mildew, or rot. I'm not sure how long unprotected wood will last.

    I feel your pain, my hive is only a week old. I just got in it yesterday and things are moving right along. I will go out and sit and watch the bees come and go it's really cool. Good luck!
