Hey Mike,
Calm down killer. This is 'Beekeeping 101' forum. As in beginners. I thought the point in this forum is to ask questions and to learn from them. To say that we all are too worried...
I figured that they were having to keep the brood warm at night and such but it is going on 4 weeks since I installed the package and according to the books/literature they should have pretty much...
It is my understanding that some amount of drifting will occur over time no matter what you do because some bees just naturally gravitate towards the ends where over time your end hives will be your...
I started this spring (late March) with a 3 pound package and foundation. When I removed the queen cage a week later I was impressed with the amount of comb they had drawn out and burr comb the made...
emty hive body goes around the pail then cover....Personally I use miller type feeders and don't have any major complaints other than some drownings! Its all about what you are looking for, they all...
Ok, so i just did my inspection yesterday on my hives and one in particular had a ton of bees in there...I know if I don't add another super, they will more than likely swarm in another couple...

Ok, so i just checked my hives a while ago at night to see how they were doing and noticed something kind of peculiar. I saw roaches here and there and wondered if i should be concerned...and if i...
another advantage of the towel method is it's not as temperature sensitive.
What to do if your hive does swarm and you aren't prepaired to deal with it yourself....You can call your State inspector, i know in my state we are broken down into five different regions and those...
Saw a picture this spring of a guy who had a double brood system and had 12 supers stacked on that hive and him beside it on a 10 foot ladder. Didn't pay attention to see if they were shallows or...
If you already had a covered trailer I think it would be a great idea to go ahead and extract at your apiary but if not think it would be a little pricey to get going that way. If you had enough...
To me it sounds like it might be a precurser to a swarm. They gain numbers seperating themselves from the rest of the hive before they actually leave the hive. Keep an eye on them because you might...
I'm assuming you only have one hive. If you have more than one, you can transfer a frame or two to the one they are having trouble with to try to get them to come up.
Well, if its a supercedure cell, the hive will replace the queen anyway. I vote for leaving her in there and letting nature take its course since you are going to allow them to raise another queen...
Every book i've read and everyone i've ever talked with says wait a week on inspection and 3~4 days on checking on the queen/removing the queen cage. I would rather them be in there for a while...
friend of mine marked a 'running queen' one time, ended up putting a streak on her and I think she stuck around for about five seasons. Everyone around here goes with clipless queens but people on...
a local master beekeeper told me recently that the queen can lay eggs on foundation and the bees are able to draw out the comb as the egg/larva develops. Still takes a couple days for the workers to...
It seems like most suppliers are pretty good, there are just a couple bad apples out there that spoil the bunch. Just some people nature i guess. Glad to hear it worked out.
Fascinating!!! Thanks for the input.
have you tried replacing your queens?, what about feeding them?
Also, how did you find out about this supplier? What did you know about them before you ordered your nuc? You have every right to spread the news, the BAD news, to everyone you know and everyone...
personally haven't been fishing in over a year....its a shame...almost a sin, i love to fish but seems like here lately either working or raining here. Be great to get out on the water sometime...
I'm a whitewater paddler myself. I do paddle some on flat water but mostly doing drills to prep up on a weekend trip here and there. I wanna take my whitewater boat out to the cost this summer and...
well, when i started reading, it sounded like it might be a problem with your graphics card but, what browser are you using? Could be a problem with that. What about asking one of us to download it...
