    Re: Pollen stores for winter

    Hello Buzz:
I don't know how big or strong your cut outs and swarms are, but have you given any thought to combining them into 1 or 2 hives? I did that with a swarm and cut out and it is one beauty...

    Re: Drone Exodus

This is just one more piece in the Varroa puzzle for me. Drones can go anywhere, even into strange hives and now I discover this behavior. I believe it's drones that spread Varroa around the...

This isn't a drone eviction, below is a link to video. You can see them just coming out and flying away.

    Re: Drone Exodus

Does that mean from the hive they are exiting from or another hive in the neighborhood may be swarming? Because I checked a feral hive today that is real busy. That hive is about 300 yards away in an...

    Re: My Maxant extractor

I have the 3100H Maxant. It's a hand crank model but the same thing just without the motor. Check to make sure that there is a 1/2" steel ball at the bottom of the shaft, and it is lubricated with...

    Drone Exodus

I know Drones are kicked out of the hive but today I have dozens of Drones just leaving and flying away almost a steady stream of them. Would anyone have an idea what's happening? Thanks

    Re: Nectar / Pollen

I was watching some of the girls yesterday on Sow Thistle and it looked like they were getting both. They had their heads in taking nectar, and every once in a while their middle leg seemed to go...

Re: Did feeding/cost of feeding discourage you?

Then if that is what you want you should pursue that. It will become whatever you make it. Also I didn't mean to frighten you.:D You have to remember too that it is more expensive up here in Canada...

Beekeeping is what you make it. Below is a rough run down of my costs to date this year, we use Langstroth hives we built ourselves from salvaged lumber. I'm hopeful that we will harvest...

    Re: I had no idea!!!

Not here the girls are still bringing in nectar and pollen you must have the wrong type of bloom, and our garden is spectacular. Try watering and give it some fertilizer or good composted manure....

    Re: Southern beekeepers

We're about the same here in Southern Alberta today, but all this pinche rain is going to freshen up the alfalfa, so next week when the sun comes out the honey should flow again.

Why would that be, I've always thought you guys on the island had lots of rain and lush vegetation. Or are you right in the city of Vancouver?

Re: Please Help to Identify My Bees

Not having a clue is the 4th symptom. But seriously I'm not sure because the pic is a bit dark. I'll move it to a photo editor and see if I can lighten it a bit.

    Re: I had no idea!!!

I should end up with about 112 8 ounce jars. I just gave a guy a taste sample and he bought 20 jars @ $5.00 a jar. Is my pricing too low?

    Welcome to the forum Alpal:

    I had no idea!!!

I had no idea that 19 frames could produce 6 to 7 gallons of honey. That's as close as I can figure now because I have pails and containers all over our kitchen. I still have at least 20 more to...

  25. Re: Newspaper combine with 2 queen right hives?

This is what Allen Dick had to say at honeybeeworld.com.

On a nice day, I'd just stack them u and walk away. The less you interfere, the better the bees do.
