    Re: Cotton

I think you are right about the narrow spectrum. But, I am right about our cotton guys not spraying where I have my bees. My comment was mainly to say the bees don't seem to get the honey supply off...

    Re: Cotton

Most of the cotton around here is BT cotton.. They don't spray anymore.but the bees don't seem to work it as much. Your county extension agent should let all the farmers and sprayers know about your...

    Hot hives

We've got a lot of new beekeepers in our area that are real gung-ho about keeping bees but they've been catching swarms and doing splits off these hives that are really hot and fixing to cause us...

Re: Hive split with queen excluder?

If you did that there would be no reason to buy the queen.. Cause the nurse bees will be separate from original queen so they they will build a queen cell in most cases

I agree. Around here it is pine and western cedar this early in year. But this year all trees and plants are already in full bloom for about 3 weeks. It is a shame, every year we get a freeze around...

    Re: Angry Bees

I do not know about Michigan, but here in Texas this is what I have learned. My bees in town are Italian and I have 5 hives in a 30 x 60 backyard and my bees are so very gentle very seldom do I...

Re: Texas Honey House Laws or Production Laws

Today, I was confronted by our city health inspector at the farmers market. Apparently another vendor called him out to check out our booth. He asked if we are selling honey and luckily we had...

    Re: Need help moving bees

I agree with trying to get them in boxes now. Trying to move the barrel with bees in it would be pretty tough and very likely you will damage the brood nest. It would be very simple to buy you a...

  21. Strange turn of events after queen rearing

Re: What to do with all these swarms??

Heck yes, sell them. I like swarms better than a package. The queen maybe older, but they have survived in your area unlike a new package. I would be sure and let buyers know, but I know they sell in...
