yellow jackets and wasp die when I can get them. I've got little kids wasp always trying to make nest under toys and things out side.....I had yellow jackets tearing up a week hive last fall.

guy at work who is not a bee keeper went to visit some family they send him back with about a gallon of honey...he said they called it salcombe (spelling is off im sure) here pronounced it like...
I'm sure its not going to hurt anything, but make it easy on yourself if they have good stores and you haven't pulled everything off I'd let them run it on their on.
I'm in north GA I just pulled spring honey this week cleaning up and will be moving to the mountains for sourwood in a week or so. almost all of mine was capped still had bees bringing in clover so...
I will be pulling my spring honey this week to and moving my bees soon on sourwood...do they not have any good pollen stores in the hives? I will pull everything that is capped anything that still...
I took a sample week or so ago mine was a good strong blackberry.
when I move mine I go in earlier in the day and staple the top with screen then cover with the lid then go back at night and screen the front and remove the lid so they can stay nice and cool.
Probably star thistle we get it in pasture around here very mean weed but Bee's seem to work it I've seen the honey in stores but never tried and pure...bee's are working clover right now at my place...

Privit is about done in my part of north GA, I'll be checking hives pulling capped honey getting ready for sour wood flow in a few weeks, blackberry was a good one this year too.
I will move my bees up to our mountain land...last year the sourwood flow in my part of north GA (Blarisville) was almost none that late frost we had hurt it bad....here in north GA in the right...
I'm in north GA I have already done it but once it starts warming up I run no inner cover and prop the telescope lid open slightly with stick or piece of wood etc...adds as a top entrances and helps...
so was he spraying herbicide? not pesticide.....
pretty good in GA, lots of rain so has kept bee's in thought and knocked some blooms off.

Same here in my part of north GA if you get your balckberry marked before the privet blooms it is my favorite as well...I had to get me a swipe yesterday from a frame!
got a ton for rain in North GA, hopefully all cold weather is gone, had a hard frost late last year and didn't make any sourwood honey.

Your far enough up in GA that you shouldn't worry about Africanized bees, should have a good supply of drones to mate with a good number of bee keepers here. What part of the co. are you in?
I have a some hives on all mediums 3 mediums going into winter, and the my deeps are 1 deep and 1 medium super.
Sorry folks I should have said t I was joking a little, hence the emoticon, but a sawzall with a metal cutting blade cuts through a tire very easily...at least ones I've done using a shorter blade...
What us native southerners call a Sawzall....or for our northern brethren or more technically correct a reciprocating saw. :D
