limburger cheese on the exhaust manifold of his car or a can of opened sardines on the back of the intake manifold makes a lovely revengeful odor. If you can find it, a drop or two of ethyl mercaptan...
tycon...you might try traps...:lookout:
I set my hives on concrete blocks. Easy to move when moving hive.
From what I have gleaned from other discussions, the smaller the entrance the guard bees have to cover, the better the defense agains SHB and other intruders. Translated.....manage your entrances...
Short days and long nights have the same affect on me.
Finally an argument in favor of keeping africanized bees.....sure would eliminate theft....just kidding:lookout:
I beg your pardon, this is exactly the time of year you place your queen, package and nuc orders. Check the "for sale" section on this forum, it is jammed with notices....and unless a person was...
Flyman might sell more queens if he answered e-mails or PM's when people inquired about buying queens from him....I'm just saying. Good luck with your new adventure.
The pollen sub feeding station is about 100 yds from my hives. I believe the bees think they found a food source through foraging. I doubt it will incite them to rob other hives.
I use GoDaddy.com. They have web hosting and do-it-yourself website building for a cheap price. Works great and you're up and running in no time.

Tite-Bond exterior is the only glue I will use on my bee equipment.
This is truly a switch. Most folks talk about going from deeps to mediums. I don't see where box size makes any difference how bees overwinter if they have enough food they can get to and maybe a...
Avelon, do you know Gene Ash? He's an experienced beek there in the Bryan/College Station area. You an Aggie by any chance?
my traps are five frame. Use at least two frames of old comb per trap. Nothing draws scout bees better than the smell of old comb. You might get wax moth, but bees taking up residence will clean up.
You can buy better queens with better genetics than you can raise from 4 hives and no experience raising queens.
cedar hill.....the object of feeding is to do it when there is a need and there isn't anything for them to gather. If you stop feeding before a natural source is available and they start...
Beaverdam...Cisco might be west of you but it ain't west Texas. Bendriftin....the best place to keep your bees in west Texas is east Texas (just kidding). Everything out here depends on how much rain...

I wanted to share my experience with community feeders. In past years I have used hive top feeders for sugar syrup. This year I decided to try an experiment with a community syrup feeder. I keep 7...
