Smell of the bandaid?
Why not use an old electric stove switch? Go to the dump=free. Most stove elements are 1000wats or more.
Thanks all. We are hitting peak flow now. I need comb so the honey stays on.
Ok thanks, that's what I was thinking.
Makes sense. Any difference doing that to just leaving them on. Foundation drawing wise? Most have 2deep plus 2 superes. Some have 3 deep and a super. I would rather only have to clean up after...
1 leaver the full super with the foundation super under, shouldn't affect anything.
2 extract super and put back on, bees may think that they have room and drawing foundation may slow....
How does extracting during the main flow affect wax production? I have 3 hives with full supers on. Added more under the full ones. If I extract the full supers and put them back on will this make...
We got to see some pick of that. Please.
You are only 13 days it can take 3 weeks after emergence.
Thanks. My hives are 100yards or so from the nearest crop so I should be good for no drift. Just wondering if they spray at night will the bees be affected the next day. I suppose it maters greatly...
I have a couple of hives near a canola field that may be sprayed. What can be done to keep the bees off it till its safe? I could screen them in and give them thin sugar water for the day but if its...
I've been moving 5 brood frames up to the new box put to same side as the 5 left in the bottom. The rest new frames.
Why not use a large push in cage. Trap her on emerging brood with some space to lay for a while. Sorry for your losses.
Ya BReanger that's what I'm talking about but Mike divides them and has a colony on either side.
Paraffin eh SNL. It doesn't crack?
I was thinking maybe treat before assembly with some kind of...
I'm going to try out some 1/2 frame 4way mating nucs Mike Palmer style. Just wondering if anyone has some picks and advice on the feeder. Mostly what is used to seal it and what materials work best....
Thanks for the picks.
Yep forgot to mention feed I have some sugar water on them. Do you put a screen in the feeder or just fill it up? I was thinking a screen ladder may help with swimmers.
What are you all doing when starting them? I put plastic foundation in with a little extra wax rolled on. Just shook bees in tonight. Have caged virgines in with them. I plan on leaving them screened...
Cool thanks for the tip.
This was my first attempt so it is totally doable without all the fancy stuff.
I think I used 5/16 or 1/4 dowel I'll have to look. The Chinese tool works ok but takes up a bunch of room, can't see...
Sounds like success so far. Picks are always good.
Paper clip, wood dowel, bees wax, frame, bees is all you need. Oh and some Macgyver brains wouldn't hurt.
No I just a hobbiest. We have an awesome swarm reporting/catching group. Fun stuff.
