    Re: Sugar price down??

It's definitely a lot cheaper now than a year ago. I now remember paying $13 for 25lb Great value brand bag at Walmart last year. WM doesn't carry 50lb bags it SAMs does.

    Sugar price down??

Am I mis-remembering? A 50lb bag of sugar at Sam's is $16 now. My brain keeps telling me that a 25lb bag was almost that much 2 years ago. Am I losing it or is sugar really down in price this year?

Re: Drawbacks to using small cell

Unbelievable...perhaps the most childish/insecure thing I've ever seen on this forum.

Re: Drawbacks to using small cell

I would go with 1: the one that started the attack(s) on others and 2: the one that others agree is wearing them(see Sharpdog's post above)

Re: Drawbacks to using small cell

    BeemanDan,
Confrontational people tend to take other's words as confrontational when they really weren't meant that way...guess I should have used the word "experienced" or "seen" instead of...

Re: Drawbacks to using small cell

I've had no problems if you know and accept that it will take a little work. I currently am working with all wax foundation but will start with the Mann Lake 4.9 this spring now that most of my hives...

I've done this before when I was attempting to take some hives to all mediums. Take a frame out of the top medium and also take the medium frame directly below it out. Drop a full frame of fresh...

Re: Colony Losses In The Southeastern States

28 hives. Lost 2 but 100% my fault. Starved out. I overwinter in single deeps and allow them to keep all mid summer(cotton) and late summer(goldenrod). Was surprised I lost 2. These hives just...

    Re: Are you missing bees?

Get and old bird bath and fill it with your pool water. A bucket would work, too. If you can find some, add some old decaying leaves to it. There's something about the moisture from rotting...
  13. OA Vaporizer...when to start in spring?

What's the best timing to do the 3-4 week OA vaporizer treatments in the spring? Before build up starts, during? Assuming before but don't want to do it if it's still too cold.
  14. Re: Southeastern Alert - Check your hives early this season

Whether I think they need it or not, I place dry sugar on all my hives in mid-January and check again in mid February. If bees have eaten a majority or are currently on the sugar, I add more. That...

Re: Oxalic Aicd - No longer a "pesticide."

OA will still be cheap...now the taxes that they tack on to it will be another story. $7 can just jumped to $20. Would someone like to tell me exactly why we need "gov't approval" to use something...

Re: How many nucs can a person sell?

I sell 20-40 nucs every year. I run 25-30 hives. 15 for making nucs and 10-15 for honey. I could sell 100 if I had the time. This year, I am getting $105 for 4 frame nucs into your own equipment...
