Re: Any Cappings Spinner Conversions Out There?

I tried the same with the same result.
I use a 20 l bucket with holes drilled in the bottom inside another bucket with a honey gate and this works OK.
The best way to deal with cappings is to wash...

Re: Lost first hive ever to SHB

If the damage is considerable I would put new foundation in it.
Yes, the SHB loves the brood.
I have seen hives go from a few SHB to being destroyed in less then a week and have heard from others...

Re: Lost first hive ever to SHB

    Sorry about your loss.
Any comb which is in good condition ( and does not smell too strong of the SHB) can be re-used.
I would clean the box and air it before re-use.
Some years back when the SHB...

Re: Selling crystallized honey in a container

I have no crystallized honey in stock. If I have it available in 500g jars it flys off the shelve.
Most of Europe uses mostly crystallized honey.

    Re: Cheapest effective swarm trap?

The huge trick I learned this year from a bait hive host is to put a gnarly piece of firewood on top of them.

Can you explain what the purpose is of the wood?

Re: Need to wash my ventilated jacket...

I have had mine for a good number of years...is it 6 years? It is holding up very well. It is not white anymore but it all works. The elastic at the arm ends are worn but would be easy to replace.

Re: Price for a rotted out hive with bees?

    be generous!
I had a similar situation. I gave way too much and it was way too much work. I still drop off a jar of heney when I pass. There are things we should do not for money.

Re: Weatherproof / Writable Hive Tags

    Thanks! Pencil!!!

I have used rather expensive waterproof felt pens but since the Xylene is gone the pens are no good. A pencil it is. Best ideas are so simple.
  18. Re: Small scale extraction set up? Up to 20 hives..

    I have now 30 hives.
We have an Electric uncapping knive, a couple of squer tubs to uncap into and a 4 frame , motorised extractor, some plastic buckets with strainer...that is it.
  19. Re: How do you apply the lemon grass oil or swarm commander on a swarm trap?

I do the same. The Q-tip will be found outside a hive after a few days
