We gas ours to deal with all pests.

When you are treating 2000 hives at a time, you tend to treat them all the same so 40 ml is as good an estimate as any.
Given that oxalic isn't a standard treatment, I find it ridiculous for you to call this recipe terrible. There is no standard. Just because Randy Oliver says to use 3.5% doesn't mean you have too....
Oxalic: Varroa Mite Treatment
3 Gallons of Corn Syrup
1.2 Gallons of Water
20 oz of Oxalic Acid

We will often offset the first super placed above the excluder with a half inch gap and then do the same with the lids.
We have kind of always had the idea that 500 is a good number for one guy to run by himself, but I would say that 3 guys should be able to run 1500-2000 if they work at it.
