Re: Swarm commander: Does It Really Work?

Some Beekeepers here in SF are realizing that swarm captures are the way to go to replenish dead outs. Packages are not surviving as well as swarms for whatever reason. Swarm Commander certainly...
  2. Ollie GAVE me a new bottling tank and strainer!

Ollie's generosity knows now bounds. I've been frustrated with those stainless sieves that clog up easily so Ollie GAVE me this 15 gal. bottling tank with Brushy Mountain strainer. I'll let you all...
  3. Re: 8 frame deeps seem ideal, why aren't all commercial guys running them?

    You won't regret it mobees!
  4. Re: Has anyone thought about Slovenian (or modified) hives?

Kinda like someone who has been beekeeping for over 40 years and suddenly discovers through a caring thoughtful fellow beekeeper that 8 frame supers are amazing!
  5. Re: Rotating tables for bee blowing and painting etc.

I have used Ollie's rotating table and it works extremely well. Maybe some day I'll be able to use it on MY supers instead of just his.
  6. Re: 8 frame deeps seem ideal, why aren't all commercial guys running them?

Ollie has thanked me numerous times for my advice to him about 8 frame supers although he won't admit it. Sometime old "stuck in their ways" beekeepers just need a little gentle nudge to get them...
  7. Re: OD Frank finally honors his agreement but with a catch

    Dan,

Those Euro boxes as with all his other ones are in pretty bad shape. They're left to the bees to mend with propolis to keep them from falling apart. Ollie's like one of those crazy people...
  8. Re: OD Frank finally honors his agreement but with a catch

    Jade,

As you can see from his post he's not "all there". I will try to get power of attorney on his estate to be able to care for him properly. He needs to know that he's loved right now.
  9. Re: OD Frank finally honors his agreement but with a catch

    Jade,

Thank you for bringing this important issue up again. Since this post, I have done my best to protect Ollie, including advising him on staying away from a crazy Russian beekeeping woman who...

Re: Show us your honey labels!

Love that label Quattro. I would have "Pure Raw Honey" on your label instead of just "Pure" as a descriptor.

Re: My Ant Proof Hive Stand Actually Works!

I found the 1 3/8" plastic coated dowel at HD for about $6.00. Pretty good considering it was 8' long. You'll need a 1 3/8" bit. You'll be swimming in cash once you sell your honey so c'mon, spend a...

Re: My Ant Proof Hive Stand Actually Works!

I've gone to wooden closet rod dowels. Very strong and very cheap.
  18. Re: Bees love Echium wildpretii. (Tower of jewels)

Put your pots on your roof away from the deer. Mine died anyway.
  19. Re: Goldenrod Honey Pork Chops with Onions For Dinner - Thank you Cleo Hogan

    Rader,

I have donated so much equipment to Ollie it would make your head spin. Labor too!

    Adorable!
  24. Re: bees mixed with honey to be crushed and stained

During robbing times, I place supers and or frames inside these heavy duty Brute containers. Keeps all the bees off as your pulling honey. You can put two supers inside one container.20698
