    Re: I can't see.

May or may not be helpful and I have good vision so I have no reason to try....

MAYBE take pictures of the frames with a good digital camera and then inspect the pictures. That should allow you to...

Hope it works for you. If not. and if it is still new, you may want to just take it back and return it for a new one...

    Re: Creased veil

Hair dryer to warm it up (do not melt it but make it softer) and a few boards to flatten it with while warm. Put one board on top and the other below the screen while the screen is a warm as you can...

    Re: Arduino Bee Projects?

I just got my 2 hives setup. My first(s)!!! I built an Arduino Hive controller. It monitors (and can maintain with heat and fan) environmental variables of the hives. Unfortunately I did not get it...

Re: For those who build your own, which table saw?

I can not help you with brand and whatnot but a few things I would try to get on the saw:

At least 3/4" for your Dado. Mine can not handle it and I used 3/8th instead. Looks nice too I think but...
  7. Re: Paint/Stain What do you use/How long is it lasting?

Do not yet know how long it will last but I am using Ultra Premium Red Label Penofin on cedar hives. Time will tell in this wet (western Washington State) climate. My neighbor used it on his cedar...

Re: Got to take a peak in the nucs today....

Very nice Lauri! I may be interested in one or two of your nucs come Spring. I just finished building 9 more mediums this weekend... getting ready for Spring but not sure of where to get my bees....
  9. Re: Does anybody collect vintage or rare Beekeeping equipement ?

    Denis,
Hope this does not cause any drama (rules for the site about selling stuff...???) but I may be interested in a 5" smoker. I am a new beekeeper (I do not even have a hive yet) but my young...

    Re: Dc inverter

My $0.02.... While all the above recommendations will work I would highly recommend a small generator if you need portable power of that wattage. While it will work, (run off your truck battery) it...

I too am new here but would like to extend my welcome. It is nice to see all the WA people on this thread.
  13. Re: NewBee (next Spring) saying hello from Washington (State)

I base the reason for wanting to insulate the hive on Langstroth's own writings.
Please see this link for more info.... (Hope I can post a link)...
  14. Re: NewBee (next Spring) saying hello from Washington (State)

    Buzz,
I worry that a windbreak would cause too much shade. It is cold and wet enough here.... I also think the insulation will solve any condensation problems that may occur.
  15. Re: NewBee (next Spring) saying hello from Washington (State)

    Raider,
Thank you for you opinion. Weight is something I have been thinking about and is part of the reason I am building medium only. I live about 40 miles East of Seattle up against the Cascade...

    Greetings all,
