Re: used frames question from CL find

What about hot enough water to melt off all the wax but not harm the plastic and everything would detach? Re coat with wax and go on. Just guessing here, there may be a reason it wouldn't work. ...
  2. Re: making nuc with shaken bees from several hives and a queen ?

I am not trying to be offensive or rude, but wouldn't that effectively be like a package, when you add random bees and introduce a new queen? It would become a nuc soon enough. A package does get...
  3. Re: Scientists accused of plotting to get pesticides banned

They do it a lot. Can I say, global warming and evolution for starters. Come up with a theory, then look for things to convince others it's evidence and ban anyone from the science field that...

    Re: Don't see this everyday....

Thanks for the photos Bucky. That would have been fun to see up close and personal. I only can think of how much they would get robbed all the time.

    Re: Fort Bee

My concern would be on the low end where you have rocks piled up at the base. I would think that's an easy beginning for a bear or something smaller to dig under the fence there. I would guess one...

That sounds great waterbug. There's nothing better than to see the results of a busy queen.

Re: Bomb Cyclone to hit US next week

It's basically to create fear and drama, since fear and drama sells, for two reasons I can see. One reason is to get people to stay tuned in longer and more often, and to sell the global warming...

    Re: Monsanto (Bayer) and Bees

This is just an observation and possibly a poor one. I do see Monsanto as doing some valuable things, like roundup ready which has it's advantages, though like anything else, it can be over used and...
  10. Re: Pros and cons on Sharing a bee yard with another beekeeper

I would say it depends largely on your own personality. If you don't really like people in general, are commonly suspicious of others, want to be alone, can't share well, etc., then it most likely...
  11. Re: When your ex topples your hive, can I site animal cruelty?

She said she got 9 gallons. Sounds like it was harvested. A last case, she says, was taken. A case of what?

Yeah the guy is acting like a jerk. Typical domestic dispute. There's always two...
  12. Re: When your ex topples your hive, can I site animal cruelty?

I agree with this. This event is a property damage claim. Bugs don't need human rights. Before you know, every keeper will be called cruel to steal honey from bees.

    Sounds like there's no...

He's in Missouri. I wonder if there even are state inspectors here. Besides, it looks like he is displaying a fancy log lawn decoration and the bees keep going in and out of it.

    Re: BeeTree...

I would be concerned about how much wreckage happened to the comb and possibly a dead queen when the tree hit the ground. Could you assess the damage through the ends of the log? It would be great...

Re: I'm pretty sure I killed my hive today :-(

With the honey mess you probably have on, in and around the hive, I would be doing something to prevent robbing or at least be on guard for it.

Thanks, I like seeing pictures of the bees at work, especially with the bees coming in with a full payload. Here's one of mine from a month ago, though pretty much done here I think. Make it a...

    Re: Late swarm

Just another update. The bee numbers are growing on this late swarm and they have a nice 6" diameter or so brood nest on 3 frames to produce some new bees to get through the winter. Bees cover 5-6...
