Re: BIP partnership and testing breeders

    I totally agree on BIP.

In terms of VSH and just plain old HYG one would expect lower mite loads and our most hyg results did have some of the best mite numbers. Many different genes involved...

    Re: Grafting

I prime the cells with roughly 50:50 jelly to water. You don't want it runny or it will drip out with your graft. Priming allows me to work longer and faster without worry of larvae drying out. ...

That did not copy and paste very well. The spreadsheet it was copied from is way easier to read and anything above treatment threshold was is in red. Maybe I can post it as an image, but the data...

Re: BIP partnership and testing breeders

I usually do a sugar roll or alcohol wash. They took the samples in soapy water I believe. They are sending them the lab in Maryland. We also tested the VSH breeders I got from Dr Harbo. Of the...
  8. Re: Queens and nucs from Old Sol 2014.... Survivor Stock, F1 Caucasians, VSH/SMR

Since they came in nucs I should be able to start grafting this week. We should have them mated and laying in about 4 weeks give or take. They were about a month late getting here but are looking...

Re: Will they rework a frame of Drone comb

I still think it would be a good experiment to hive a package or swarm on 100% drawn drone comb on wax foundation and see what happens. I predict the hive will make the usual amount of worker bees. ...

It can vary. Many health food stores will offer some in natural form. If you don't need a whole lot it can be harvested from open cells. A little goes a long ways and I dilute it to about 50%ish. ...
