Had same situation with a cotton wood yesterday. Lots of bees, but not much brood very small hollow. Don't know if I got the queen or not, but I will donate a frame from another hive if necessary.

None of the above. Leave them alone for a couple weeks to get settled in and the queen laying.
x2 and I don't want my equipment contaminated.
Great info thanks.
Are you in a flow? If so they will draw when they need it if not then feed. I'm guessing you are in a flow, so are you queenless?
Sorry to disappoint Brad, but I'm trying to be a little more civil or something according to my better half.
I'm no expert, but we get plenty hot and I never prop the tops. The bees have managed sixty plus days of 100+ heat and made honey and splits by their own ventilation. I have both top, bottom, and...
Sorry I didn't type the whole conversation, but I did tell him that no pesticide was being used and that I wanted them all alive. He said it didn't matter still had to have one. I personally think he...
Question, has Texas law changed with the dealing with swarm capture and removal? Caught a swarm today and while I was dealing with them a man pulled up and ask me is I had a applicators license. I...

Good to hear! I have been around bees practically my entire life with the exception of some Army time and they still fascinate me. Keep floating it only gets better. :)
Hate to burst your bubble, but you should not be deep enough into the hive at three days to see eggs! Give them some time and let the queen establish herself. If you want to see bees in action get...
Use five gallon buckets lighter, come with handles, not so bulky, and no building required.
"Neonicotinoids?" If so then my bees should have died a long time ago since I plant corn around them. Insecticide possibly, but not corn.
I have one inch diameter holes that's it when they out grow the nuc and need a ten frame home they get a three inch opening.

Or make one yourself. ;)
Due to fire ants I have to mow and use a string trimmer around my hives and yes a veil is required if I get within 10 feet outside that they don't care.
Unfortunately if they are really that mean they will probably kill your new queen.
Let me go with the give me lemons and I'll make lemonade. To me lots of drones equal a very healthy hive and a flow.
Glad to hear that you two are happy. Please always wear at least a veil as when they get brood and more numbers I can almost guarantee they will get a little more interesting. Remember smoke is your...
Thanks for the quick reply. By your standard then you would dump all of my bees, lol. With smoke they are very nice without you better have good gloves on as there will be at least thirty stingers...
Is that with or without smoke?
Or instead of trying to recreate the wheel just buy bees/queens from non treatment stock and there you go resistance .
Any oil will work and as far as getting the oil into the trap go by your local feed store and ask for the largest syringe and needle. Then if you worry about poking yourself grind the sharp point...
