    Re: 38 days after install

Your progress seems about the same as mine. I have a bit more uncapped honey though. I did our install on the April 20th, and our queen was superceded, so the bees are a bit behind.

Thanks! I just added a few bars in the brood chamber.
  4. Re: Hive 1: Queen-right to queen-less in less than a week!

Re: I need advice about a queenless hive

I just went through this. I was incredibly worried and over protective. Once all the queens hatched, I ended up with 1 virgin. When she was still a virgin, she was running all over the hive with...

Help!! I have been reading and studying in preparation for this spring and thought I was completely prepared. Actually having bees is completely different than reading about them! Anyway, let me...
  11. Re: Oh, my! 3 week old TBH with 9 capped Queen cells!

We had the exact same thing happpen. I went in on Monday (seven days after I saw 8 capped queen cells) and saw a new queen who appeared to be mated, but still had a few capped queen cells. I peaked...

Good Luck!! Sounds like things are now going well.
  13. Re: Do You Think These Will Work For Top Bars?

I've noticed that the bars I have without popsicle sticks aren't as straight as those with. They're still straight, but just not as straight as the others.

    Re: New Queen

This is definitely a new queen. I didn't see the old queen during two previous inspections, and no larva has been laid in the past week.

    Re: Queenless

They all seem to be the same age. When I took the pictures, I spotted two "teacups", but I don't think they're ever going to finish them. There is syrup in the hive, but they haven't been taking...
