    Re: Queenless or Not?

if you are in a dearth, try feeding 1:1 syrup to simulate a flow. i had the same problem, as soon as i started to feed, she started to lay.

    Re: Queen cells

did you check to see if you have a queen? if you do then they are supercedure cells and you wont go without a queen. mother and daughter will probably coexist in the hive for a short time. if they...

  5. Re: Can I overwinter Bees in a nuc in North Carolina??????

I have not done it yet personally, but many have , much farther north than you. I'm hoping to overwinter a 5 on 5 medium nuc this winter in MD.
  6. Re: I see pollen, does that mean nectar is flowing too?

having pollen doesn't mean there is nectar. i am in MD also. the goldenrod is starting to bloom now, which is a good source for fall nectar

its ok to set the swarm hive next to the original hive. I do it without any problems. I'd give them a little space to avoid drifting, especially when the queen from the hive that swarmed goes on her...
