  1. Re: Installing packages: 2# 3# 4#, what is too much?

I inspected the other two today. The 4# install had 14 frames filled with nectar and the queen is laying in the remaining space. The other 6# was the same story as the first two. I had to swap frames...
  2. Re: I am officially getting out of the package bee business.... I have made my last r

I have a trailer I also had to register in ME. It is a flat bed that I brought up from KY. I never had it registered and it does not have brakes. CT requires brakes on all axles for trailers over...
  3. Re: Big Rig Transporting to Maine blueberries goes over

Nope... An accident like this is a career ender. Not because nobody will hire him, but because nobody can afford to insure him.
  4. Re: I am officially getting out of the package bee business.... I have made my last r

All the tolls around here are going cashless. You either have to have easy-pass or they take a picture of your plate and mail you the bill. I suspect that ticketing the obscured license plate in NH...
  5. Re: Installing packages: 2# 3# 4#, what is too much?

They were installed on drawn comb. Not fed; I rarely feed newly installed packs. At the right time of year it is completely unnecessary.

The queen in one was just wandering around, there wasn't...

  7. Installing packages: 2# 3# 4#, what is too much?

A few weeks ago, on one of the threads, there was a conversation about if installing more bees is better. So I did a little experiment on 4 hives this year where I doubled packages and installed 4#...

  9. Re: I am officially getting out of the package bee business.... I have made my last r

That is only true to a point. When I lived in KY we did not have to register trailers. I hauled my trailer to VT without a plate on it and got stopped in Glen Falls NY. The trooper asked where my...

The Company I bought it from is in Brazil. I don't think it is made there. The directions are in Spanish. These can be purchased from any bee supplier in Central and South America, I picked Brazil...

Re: Prepping for the ZomBee Apocalypse.

I can't read Spanish so the directions are useless to me, but looking it over it has a hook and leg on the front so it can be hung level on the side of the hive. It also has a baffle that can be...

I have considered hauling a load of bees in a gutted camper trailer.... As long as you leave the toilet it is still an RV.

Re: Prepping for the ZomBee Apocalypse.

It was on back order when I first ordered it. Then the company would not ship to the USA, so I waited for a co-worker to go to Brazil on vacation, get it and ship it back.

I got it as a novelty....

After being two years in the works my imported Brazil SC smoker arrived. Designed for the management of AHB populated hives in South America, it dwarfs my woodsman and Bee-z smokers. I can't...

  25. I am officially getting out of the package bee business.... I have made my last run.

It was something I contemplated last fall when the producers sent me the price lists for 2014, but I decided to give it one more go as I already had a deposit down on 1000 packages. As winter...
