How about cleaning the press when done with honey extraction? Has it been difficult for your friend to clean the wood? I'm assuming there's a filter bag the comb is put into.
Wow! I looked at this thread for the honey press photos, and I am sensing some serious tension here! Thanks for the entertainment. I'm going to press my honey out :)
Nice! Thank you! That looks like a pretty easy design there, probably have most of the pieces lying around.
I'd like to make a honey press similar to this one 12783, at least this general idea. Has anyone else made one of these? Any leads on where to score the stainless steel mesh piece? Other ideas?
I love this site. It's so nice to have lots of other beek's just a mouse click away.
These are the answers I'm looking for! Timing! Thank you.
My bad, naturally defensive :o. I really just wanted to see how far they were and see if they needed another box. Also wanted to check in on honey stores while I was in there. I watched a video of...
Ah! Slight twist..great advice thank you!
How often do you personally go through the hive? And if the boxes have honey would you harvest them now or put them back on and wait until fall-ish?
I definitely had a game plan! I would not open it just to open it, since that goes against the whole warre principal. It's just that once I was in there, the game plan changed due to what I saw,...
That's definitely the next step. I know there is a bee school around, although they are more than likely a conventional type of organization, as most folks around here use chemical treatments and...
I opened up the hive this morning, and being only the third time I have opened her up this year (1st year), my adrenaline was pumping. That felt good. What didn't feel good, was not knowing exactly...
Thank you all.
Thanks for bringing up the drones. I was thinking the drones were darker. I saw this article:http://beeinformed.org/2013/11/why-your-drones-are-getting-the-boot/
Went looking at the hive today and noticed some dead bees outside the hive, also half dead carcasses and some woozy looking bees. Looked like the bees couldn't fly. They are lighter in color and...
I would think also, you just gave them a lot more space, they need to get used to it. It would make sense to me that things would be a little hectic for a day or so. Also, why did you add two boxes?...
I got one of these. It's a little pricey, but way cool. Two would be better, then you can space both...
Just looked that up, I think you've got it!
I've heard of that method. Guess the brads wouldn't be any harder to pry off than the propolis eh?
Feverfew has different foliage than the plant allan was talking about.
It looks like ox-eye daisy to me too.
Here are plans for that lift.
That is a beautiful thing.
Haha, it's hard to work fast under pressure! I was hoping I had all the bars straight, but he had to put it down...so that's another thing. I did the best I could under the conditions, and think I...
