A little rain won't Kill 'em. If it got heavy on the brood then their might me some brood death but with it being hot I don't think it will hurt them that much.
Check your PM's.
I have found that beetle traps do attract more beetles to your property. I once got a great buy on "Milky Spore" and gave it to my neighbors. I have had many less beetles since doing this. I still...
Thanks. If someone comes across one I'd like to at least have a xerox of it. I'll keep checking ebay but those are being bid on by collectors and get very expensive sometimes.
Does anyone have one or have access to one? I am interested in finding out the requirements from their old books.
Thanks

Without digging through and actually laying eyes on the queen, its hard to guess at this point.
1. Could be natural for this year.
2. Queen could be out of eggs.
If you find the queen...
The old 3 feet or 3 miles rule is not set in stone.
Typically you should always move the hives at night after all the bees are in.
If you have to move a hive say 20 feet or so they will tend...

I'm lucky enough to have a couple of places where I can temporarily place a hive for a couple of days if I need to move them. If you don't and have to move a hive then try the other way. I would be...
Move it at least 3 miles for a couple of days then move it to where you want it. I learned that a mile is not enough distance. Had to move the hive back to get all the bees back in.

You could simply paint a red circle above one enterance and a green square about the other enterance. You can do this at night.
The bees will recognize the difference between the two hives or...

Any news to report on the effects?
Most documentation I had say "24 to 48" hours. Then they box them, add the moth crystals and wrap them in plastic. Then you air them for about 72 hours before you use them in the spring.

I would think that it is really late for them to swarm. If they were going to swarm it should have been before now. But stranger things have happened.
What did you figure out?
Have any of you guys with SHB problems tried cinnamon to repell them? There was a thread on here a couple of days ago about some trying it. I'd be interested to know if sprinkling cinnamon along...
I built a variant with 3 5-gallon buckets. Sacrificed 1 buck to add as a spacer for the top bucket. used the bottom bucket as an air plenum. Worked well. I also used smooth hose and had little...
