    There is no way for me to have early queens other than my nucs I winter. I will just have to winter more nucleus colonies for my own use this year and have to settle for whatever I can get for now.

    yes those are the only 2 that I am aware of. I would still keep my bees, I think it is a matter of bees on comb VS package bees. as far a the different pests and diseases, that is a different thread...

    I just called Beemaid and the Strachan's are sold out, everything is averaging 33-40 dollars for early queens this year. Beemaid mentioned the New Zealand queens are around 40.00 + S/H each WOW !

    The queens come into Halifax airport and then are picked up by a beekeeper(s) and watered immediately and taken care of. It is just kind of annoying buying queens and then replacing them shortly...
