    Re: Feeling lost

Like Slowdrone and Oldtimer I agree, its not too late to raise a queen. More than likely, your new queen will be killed and the virgin will be mated, in the end you will have the same result....

    Re: drones for winter?

My opinion is that you may actually have a hive that has finally boosted its numbers to where it thinks it is healthy/strong enough to raise a few drones.

Re: Could I have a laying queen already?

Or 1. Beestudent, you are quickly migrating from an irritation to an ignore button. Do you realize you are speaking to people here who have been keeping bees 20,30, sometimes 60x as long as you?...

Beemaster, you have a good head start. Read and surf this site. There are lots of well seasoned beeks here that have helped me immensely in my short time keeping bees. Just be prepared, as others...

  14. Re: Warning: Some of these images may be disturbing to younger, more sensitive viewer

I try to cycle it out if possible, if not, I cycle it to the outside at least. Mine have started filling the drone cells wherever they are and forcing her to lay in worker cells now. It has been a...

I really don't know. I'm sure someone will chime in. Good Luck. G
  16. Re: Solid Black Bees Hairless Thorax mixed in with "normal looking bees"

There is an acute paralysis associated with hairless bees. I don't know enough about it to comment further, I have seen bees that were robbers returning home look like that from fighting while...

    Re: Uniting two colonies

Good luck with the mating flights. I went to do a combine yesterday from a superscedure I thought should have shown eggs last week. To my delight she was in there, fat and golden, and laying. Its...

Sticky: Re: Today in the Apiary

The nuc I was worried about, has a newly mated laying queen. All hives are queenright and building for winter. Now, just polish off winter stores. The season is over here. Just make em fat, and happy...

Re: Help! What's going on? Any ideas??

If its any consolation, I just saw a queen from a superscedure had made it back and is laying today. Its late, but you have a chance. I was figuring I was going to be combining that hive today,...

    Re: pesticide kill?

I had a hive starve in the summer out of my own ignorance once. It is amazing how much honey/nectar a hive will go thru raising brood. My bees now throttle back in times of dearth. Not those. I try...

Re: Panic - How Many Queens do I Have?

Betty, refer to post 4. He sees all signs of an active queen. If he makes up the nuc, and checks in a few days for Q cells in each hive, he will know where she is. Then, he could tear them down and...

    Re: Autumn syrup time

You might want to feed 2-1 for storage. Less drying time for them. I mix 1 4lb bag of sugar and one quart of water. or 40lbs to 2.5 gal and so on. Good luck. G
