    Re: mice out in winter?

How big are your hives? Can you lift the entire thing without taking each box off? If you can you might be able to address the problem without totally messing up the internal environment of the...

Re: 50 degrees - bees are active

It has been pretty cold here (below 40 degrees) for a few weeks. I popped the top to take a look and they were up feeding on the fondant.

50 degrees - bees are active

It was about 50 degrees here yesterday and the bees were taking cleansing flights. I noticed just below the entrance of the hive there were about 100, maybe a few more/less dead bees in the grass. ...

    Re: Question on Bottom Board

You can do it! I had no real wood working skills (I've built sheds and barns but nothing detailed). I've been making most of my hive bodies and bottom boards. I buy a few things, and I had someone...

    Re: Bee Suite recommendation

This is my first year and I followed the recommendations of local beeks, I got a jacket with the hat/veil and wear gloves and jeans. Works great so far.

  15. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

Ace, you should move to California and run for office (or national office for that matter). That way you can come up with lots of laws that subdue the minorities you don't like then complain that you...
  16. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

Ace, this has nothing to do with common sense. It has to do with city people moving into the country and demanding country folks follow their rules.

Harley and Mike, thanks for the input.

    Here...
  17. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

You're right normally it is to protect interest with money they are donating to campaigns.
  19. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

  20. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

    Harley,
Not 200' from neighbors....200' from their property. I could also find a "deal" on land IF I wanted to drive 100 miles to work, I drive 45 as it is and that is to much. They could live on...

  22. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

I'd say it is not fair, where I live everyone has at least 5 acres, our houses are all at the back of the property, but I have neighbors who have driveways that go past my bee yard. Houses are more...
  23. Re: Michigan is going CRAZY! Possible 2015 law change about keeping bees

Last year Michigan passed some crazy farm laws also, but they don't affect just ppl in town. I live WAY out in the country but I only have 5 acres, if this passes I would have to fence in my entire...
