    Re: Difficulties straining honey

Adelaide - 35C - place the lot in your car parked in the sun for the day.
It will melt and flow. Not good for the honey but at least you get the job done and can focus on the next task

    Re: True or No

I'm in Australia - no Varroa but we do have SHB galore where I'm.

It is common here to use Fibronil ( in various traps) to kill the SHB and to a large degree they work.
I use traps with DE - no...

Re: Who is going Pro this year?

    Hi Johno,
150 kg average is far from a record. Some people do get more.
Yeppon is a unique place - still plenty of rainforest in the area ( in our part of OZ most has been cut down many years ago)...

    Thanks, beepro, for the encouragement.
Believe me, I'm looking for easier ways to do things all the time.
I'm selecting hygienic queens and they do help with SHB and may help with Varroa in the...

Re: Who is going Pro this year?

    I agree.
But our house is paid off. We have a large garden, some chickens and cattle.
Our cost of living is pretty low.
In Australia they say that you would need 400 hives to make a living.
    I...

Re: Who is going Pro this year?

Far from ideal. Most of the land is sloping. It means that I have to push full frames up hill and I guess this will beat me one day.
All 10 frames. I found that 8 frame hives ( in our climate) swarm...

Re: Honey leaked onto garage floor
