    Re: egg stuck

    I saw a Queen just the week walking about with an egg half out. I presumed,perhaps incorrectly, that I disturbed her mid egg deposit.

    I am now talking about 10 frame deeps.

    Last year I had 2 weak hives. By winter they had 2 empty frames on each side. I use frame feeders when first setting up packages so had a few lying around. I...

    I hope others that over winter Nucs will speak up as I thought many kept them as stand alones over winter. I hope to over winter a few single Nucs and had not planned to put them over larger hives....

    I have no experience but you do have worker brood and open larvae. What you don't have at the moment is bees:(

    Hopefully you get some more into your hive...from another hive that is strong.

  19. Re: Are landing boards simply just a waste of wood? ( and paint? )

    My Langs have landing boards, my nucs do not. Both do just fine. The tree hive seems to be fine without one. It will be interesting to see if they survive though as no feeding, no treating, no...

    Re: Overwintering Nuc Question:::

    Does that mean that mean that 5 frame nucs must winter as 5 over 5s? To have 50lb of honey you would need a full nuc of honey! I ask as I plan to try this this winter and several are smaller 5 frame...

    Re: Tired of losing all the honey to robbers

    I have those round "hive portals" on some of my Nucs. I can reduce the opening hole to a small crescent but was wondering how folks fashion robber screens with these entrance reducers.
