    Just a guess but I'd think a swarm wouldn't go more than 4-5 kms to there new colony home. There's no way a swarm would go any farther than that I believe.

    I lost one this winter, they starved /froze. Check for bees real quick, if they're in there great, if not check for cause and repopulate in the spring if ya can. Best wishes

    I think its probably the best thing to use local bee as well. When I start the topbar it will most likely be a swarm from one of our survivor hives here. I like the popsicle sticks, just didn't know...
