    Re: Queen marking

Some people do with a stick (like a wooden match stick). Need to let them dry for a time before being returned to the hive from the odor.

    Re: Robber Screen Entrance Question

I agree, just make the entrance away from the smell of the entrance (through the screen). When I'm being robbed my entrance gets put down to 1/2" by 1/4" or less.

Your bees are a lot stronger than mine then if they can lift one side of the hive up to create a space for an exit. Or really, really small bees...

Re: Robber Screen and drone removal.

Yes, they can still evict the drones with the robbing screens on. I believe it's better to have the robbing screen on and not need it than not have it on and need it.

  16. Re: Three 8-frame meds filling up: should I just keep adding boxes?

Stop feeding, they'll eat some reserves and make some room for brood. Your bees are bearding, hanging out on the front porch to keep the hive cool. Mine are doing the same thing. Don't mind the cross...

    Re: Feeding supplements?

What's wrong with the bees gathering nectar and pollen, that's what bees do. If you feel they need syrup the honey-b healthy will only promote robbing. If I have to feed I put in a little apple...

  22. Re: Signs of Robbing (through an observation window) with video

Good question, they do seem to be rather excited both inside and at the entrance. Lot's of drone activity at the entrance also. Fuzzy bees may be just orienting (youngsters). I've never seen inside...

I use the Behr Marquee and even after a week of drying it will still stick together (It would make a fine glue). I rub both top and bottom edges with a pound block of beeswax, works great.
