They go in when they want.... Sounds just like one hive last year bud..... Sometimes the girls woulkd just hang out for hours after sundown... I was worried too but they do what they do and it sounds...
Last year I got 3 hives, 1 of them did the same thing.... almost like they just loved hanging out there...
Keep an eye on them and enjoy them.... They will surprise you and amaze you..
