    Re: Need help settling arguement

On brand new equipment I use soapy water (the first time only). Clean up after that is just plain water using a hose end sprayer. I do not disassemble it either.

Re: Review of the Lyson Manual Steam Uncapper

Thanks. Lyson also makes a similar, but fully automatic version of the one reviewed here. From my understanding, the 2 biggest features this other units offers are: fully automatic frame feeder, and...

Re: Review of the Lyson Manual Steam Uncapper

It is hard to give definitive numbers on the speed increase, but a guess would be that this uncapper is probably 10 to 20 times faster than my old way on of uncapping by hand (perhaps more). However,...

Re: Review of the Lyson Manual Steam Uncapper

Thanks! I do think it is a good value and so far seems like a good fit for my operation. The only problem now is I might need a bigger extractor :)

I really like that the wax comes off in sheets,...

I have not broken any frames. I was a little concerned about the plastic frames since their dimensions are slightly different than the wooden frames, but all went through without a problem. I think...

Re: Adding Pollen Supplement to Sugar Syrup?

I believe that DLS is trying to feed pollen supplement mixed in sugar syrup such that it remains totally liquid.

Glad it helped. Good luck with your decision. I'll gladly answer any questions you may have.

That seems like a giant oversight in its design. Is that how they are still made?

    Re: uncapping for 100 hives

I finally made a purchase of an uncapper. I submitted a review in the Equipment forum. Here's a link:

Re: Adding Pollen Supplement to Sugar Syrup?

I keep the two separate. I always give a patty during the cell building process, and of course feed sugar water.

Transfer them to nucs BEFORE they emerge. I like to transfer on day 14.
