    Re: Patties vs. dry feed?

I like to have my dry weight 50-60% sugar for better consumption for patties. I'd really like to experiment with liquid form some time.

Hey Rusty, do you also feed regular sugar syrup separately...

Re: Honeybee Genetics and Breeding Bees

Those queens that live 4-5 years; do the bees supersede her because of her health or because she runs out of sperm? I thought the latter.

    Re: Making candle molds

I'm finding that the acrylic + silicone mix doesn't cure very quickly at all. I put it in a cup and it hasn't cured for two days. I'm currently trying a different brand of acrylic that smells...

    Re: Making candle molds

Is it possible to make a silicone mold from another candle or will the wet silicon stick to wax?
  8. Re: Feeding Bees - Could they give up foraging?

This is on Randy Oliver's site, and has mostly to do with the feeding of pollen, but I think it has some merit here.

Does anyone know what would prevent the silicone from adhering to the object you're making a mold of?

    Sources on wax production

Does anyone have any sources on methods or techniques to produce and harvest a lot of wax? All I can come up with is continuously harvesting foundationless comb above an exluder.

Wrapped mine for the first time. I used roofing felt(the thicker kind) and wrapped it imperfectly so there are spots that bubble out a little. I think not being skin tight will allow the hive to...

    Re: sugar board question

I sometimes use a similar recipe, but with around 15lbs of sugar and without vinegar. Bring water to boil and slowly pour in the sugar, then bring it back to a rapid boil. Maybe use a bigger pot.

Re: Honeybee Genetics and Breeding Bees

No such thing as a biological free lunch. Best conform to nature rather than try to force it a certain direction.

    Post your beekeeping Facebook page

If you have a Facebook page for your apiary/farm, post a link to it here so we can 'like' it. I currently have Lauri's and Ian's.
