Re: Africanized Bees: Friend or Foe?

A lot of good information has been given in this thread so far. Admittedly my experience is somewhat limited only getting up to 14 hives personally and helping another beekeeper on a limited basis....

    Re: Heat and suits...

Ahh, dealing with temps in the triple digits and an agressive hive.

The night before you plan to go into the hive, fill the camelback 1/2 full of water and wet down a towel then roll it up length...
  4. Re: Completely rude, and evil bees during a swarm capture

Kinda why I asked the questions I did. I had AHB hives follow me well over 100 yards and still be unhappy with me after spending 30 minutes or more eating lunch in the truck, waiting in vain for...

Silly questions... How far is a good ways? And how long is a few Minutes?
  6. Re: Completely rude, and evil bees during a swarm capture

Something you might want to concider is talking to the extermination companies in your area. Several in my area where very happy to give me the bee's rather then killing them.

Re: Second week, first mistake... Question!

I think you would do more harm to your other hives taking brood from them then you would help the 4th. Contact the person you purchased the nucs from, they may be willing to provide another queen. ...

Re: Actual weight of 3 lb. package

There is another aspect of packages that I don't quite understand. Some package sellers charge more for one shipped over pick up. Seen as high as double the prices but mostly around a 50% increase...

Re: How to deal with odd-size box?

To me easy solution is to add the second deep below the 7 1/4's. make sure queen is not in the 7 1/4. Put an excluder let what there hatch and do away with the odd ball size after.
