    Re: My blueberries

I also see more bumblebees on the flowers, but if you flood a field with the honeybees, it is more effective. I have bumble bee colonies ordered for pollination too. As an individual bumblebees are...

Re: Kill the queen or give them more brood?

I had a similar problem and I switched the location with a stronger hive and now they have eggs on every brood frame.

    Re: Frame feeder question

You could either add another box on top with empty frames and let them draw it out or remove it if you want to stay with a single box. I would suggest putting the two frames in between the drawn ones...

Re: What is better -- Bees or Honey?

I mean nucs and hives you split to sell and overwintering. Honey can be sold any time of the year and won't go bad. Say you split hives and don't get any honey. There is chance that the bees die,...

    Re: My blueberries

Beepro, you have a southern highbush or rabbitye plant. Ours is a northern highbush and they function similar to deciduous trees because they drop their leaves in fall/winter and then start again in...

Re: Is it normal to see drones?

I was just curious because we just sort of came out of winter. I guess it is because of the pollen patties in January.

Is it normal to see drones?

Well, one hive has at least 50 or more drones in it and most of the other ones have a similar amount. Is this normal at this time of the year?

pH is really important. Ours was too low and it greatly affected the plant growth. Hope your plants do well this season :)

Re: giving brood to a new package?

I wouldn't give the package brood but instead split the larger hive into a nuc. If you don't want more bees, then sell it and get some money for the packages.

Re: Can I move the Queen to make a split?

If you have a packed hive and want to prevent swarming and still get honey, then take the queen away with a nuc (3 -4 frames) split and let the colony raise their own. It will take them some time,...

    Re: Dry sugar feeding approach.

I just use dry sugar as it aids in absorbing the moisture in the hive.
