  1. Re: Randy Oliver Article about Hazards of Neonicotinoids vs Other Pesticides

WLC; Is this a political posting for you or about bees? We have to be open to all points of view to solve problems.
  2. Re: Syngenta To Take A Continent To Court TO Upend Pesticide Ban

Did anyone really expect less. When a company has a threat to their bottom line they often have to file suit. Thanks for the update Dawg.

Re: Why/how I know the Anti Neonics guys are wrong

thanks Sqk, that was my point for asking Mnbees. Once bees swarm and set up a hive in the wild they are refered to as feral. Wlc I think we all get your point that pesticides kill bees, however, IMHO...

    Re: Mosquito treatment around hives

    Re: Mosquito treatment around hives

I agree with Tenbears, Bats keep the little blood suckers in line. As far as some of the plants I think they help but coverage is limited
  7. Re: Everyone calm down, there is no “bee-pocalypse”

Dawgl interesting study. Thanks for the link, just remember you can twist those numbers anyway you want and on top of that they're government numbers.
  8. Re: Everyone calm down, there is no “bee-pocalypse”

Blue that is a great article. It provides a balanced no panic view that should calm many concerns. Thanks
  9. Re: New Study Shows Bees Become Disoriented After Neonics Exposure

Dawg; I agree and believe that while we strive for more info we all should put our energies into working to solve the problem. It's unfortunate that people want to hop on just one area of a mystery...
  10. Re: New Study Shows Bees Become Disoriented After Neonics Exposure

it seems rather obvious to me that lab research (autopsy) should be done on all suspected CCD bees. At the same time testing of the hives themselves should take place. This would give us a true...
  11. Re: New Study Shows Bees Become Disoriented After Neonics Exposure

I would have to agree with Tenbears on this force feeding bees neonic and trying to reach a real world conclusion is a bit of a stretch. Also for the EPA to be given a lot of credibility can open...
  12. Re: 600 Hives Lost in Ontario--CCD/Neonics Suspected Cause

Cerez; you have just confused me. I thought the discussion was the study. Blue is just quoteing from it, not from the outside. Now if the study contradicts itself that tells me it is flawed or not...
  13. Re: 600 Hives Lost in Ontario--CCD/Neonics Suspected Cause

Cerezah; As Rader mentioned nicotine is a poison but we are not talking cigarettes and people we are talking bees and pesticides. It is opinion about strategies used by tobacco and ag companies. For...
  14. Re: 600 Hives Lost in Ontario--CCD/Neonics Suspected Cause

cerezha: your thoughts on the tobacco industry and the scientist who worked for them are fine for your view. My question is why when discussing CCD do certain people have to throw out the tobacco...
  15. Re: 600 Hives Lost in Ontario--CCD/Neonics Suspected Cause

So because the tobacco industry at one time denied the health effects of their product therefore all corporations and their employees lie. That said we should believe no one and yet everyone if they...
  16. Re: Legislation to Restrict Neonics Proposed By Oregon Representative

The proposed legislation doesn't surprise me. This country has developed a bad case of knee jerk reaction. We think we know what is wrong and have all the answers which often leads us into another...
  17. Re: Legislation to Restrict Neonics Proposed By Oregon Representative

Guys I'm a pretty plain and simple guy but there seems to be a battle of two sides both with the intent of helping out bees. Do insecticides kill bees, of course they do. Are they solely responsible...
  18. Re: Legislation to Restrict Neonics Proposed By Oregon Representative

WLC; You can see why any beekeeper woukd apply safari. So now it's monsanto and beeks, WOW!
  19. Re: Legislation to Restrict Neonics Proposed By Oregon Representative

WLC; maybe i missed it..... where is the toxicology report that says both incidents were tied to safari? if one incident was incorrect application than fine and proper punishment are in order. but if...
  20. Re: Legislation to Restrict Neonics Proposed By Oregon Representative

BigDawg; just as a point of reference this may be the largest kill in history, but to keep things in perspective the average bumblebee colony is about 50 bees per hive. That means that approx. 1,000...
  21. Re: Legislation to Restrict Neonics Proposed By Oregon Representative

Radar you are right on this is about bee health and ccd not tobacco or any other subject. Too bad red herrings need to be thrown out.

Re: Bees not Foraging (Help Please)

Poppy, I would continue to watch them and make sure they have feed but not panic. Continue your monitoring. Let us all know how many frames are not used. The bees have been doing this a long time and...

Re: Bees not Foraging (Help Please)

You say the queen is laying that's a good sign. I assume you have checked the hive, are there stores of honey and pollen? Are you still feeding and if so what? Swarm could be a possibility but they...
