    Brought everybody home and took off the screen from the hive and the plug from the nuc. I'll be placing the frames from the nuc in a hive tomorrow so that should be fun! Any hints?

    Well I finally found my bees! I'm buying a 10 frame hive and a 4 frame NUC from a guy in the morning. Very excited! I'll be posting my moving experience 2morrow.

    Take out the excluder until they have some brood up there and then they'll eagerly pass through the excluder to tend the brood. The will not pass through the excluder to build onto empty equipment.

    how close is the hive to the field? My grandfather mowed around his with the blow-out pointed away from the hive and I don't think he ever got stung because of it and that was with a mower!

    I think what I'm going to do is get my italian's this year and then requeen next spring with Russians (if they overwinter) if they do not overwinter then I'll replace with russians and try them out
